Details:

The grant program assists non-profit, for-profit, and municipal organizations with marketing, promotion and event attraction that increase visitors to Muskingum County, enhance their experience and may result in overnight stays or visitor returns.

Funding Information

The Zanesville Muskingum County CVB has $15,000 budgeted for the Tourism Development Grant in $7,500 in grants will be awarded in Round One. Any funds not used in Round One may be carried over to Round Two. The maximum amount awarded per grant is $1,500.

Funding Uses 

Grant funds may be used for event:

  • Marketing, promotion, and advertising expenses
  • Creative Costs for Ad Development, Photography
  • Entertainment fees – qualifying entertainment must be added that would extend or enhance the event.
  • Printing of event brochures for fulfillment and distribution reach beyond a 50-mile radius.

Eligibility Requirements 

Applicants must ensure that their event/project/program:

  • Is in Muskingum County during the 2026 Calendar year
  • Enhances the character and reputation for unique activities and memorable experiences in Muskingum County.
  • Encourages and assists new and appropriate tourism development or events in Muskingum County.
  • Generates additional sales and lodging taxes for the community, in that it appeals to visitors.
  • Demonstrates a measurable community or economic benefit.
  • Must be open to the public
  • Must comply with all local and state regulations regarding permits and handicap accommodations.
  • The Tourism Grant cannot be for more than 50% of the overall event expenses
  • An organization may only be awarded one grant through this program, per calendar year.
  • May not be combined with the Print Marketing Grant
  • If the Grant Applicant is a pre-existing special event that has applied for the Tourism Development Grant Funding in the past, eligible entertainment and marketing dollars requested must target a new geographic market, new demographic audience, or advertising placed in a new medium, or new entertainment with the potential to increase event attendance.

Consideration 

Primary consideration will be given to organizations who strive for the following criteria:

  • Those who offer distinctive events/projects that contribute to the ability to attract visitors (especially those outside of a 50-mile radius), drive economic impact, generate overnight stays, and improve overall tourism assets in Muskingum County
  • Organizations and events with a successful track record in communication, marketing, and execution, with a strong potential for growth in the future
  • Entities with sustainable business and marketing plans
  • Offerings that present opportunities for media coverage
  • Organizations with a solid event budget
  • Submit a detailed application
