AACF’s Youth Council is a group of 25 high school students living in Washtenaw County who come together to make a meaningful difference in the community through philanthropy and community service.
The Youth Council will distribute ~$114,500 in competitive grants to nonprofits delivering programs and services in Washtenaw County. Eligible organizations are those whose work addresses funding priorities determined through a Needs Assessment and two other issue area.
Funding Priorities
For 2026, the Youth Council has decided to focus their efforts on the two funding priorities listed below:
- Academic Support & Post High School Readiness
- Programs/projects that promote educational equity and accessibility, and that provide resources facilitating the transition out of high school. Services may include but are not limited to college and career guidance, financial literacy, and essential skill development.
- Anti-Discrimination Initiatives & Aid
- Programs/projects that offer support for marginalized and/or underserved youth with a focus on discrimination based on race, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic status, citizenship, or any other identity. Services may include but are not limited to language resources, basic needs, and mental Heath.
