MedStudentsServe grants support educational, advocacy, community service and outreach programs that enhance the health and well-being of California’s communities. Priority will be given to projects for which funding is not traditionally provided by medical schools or local community sponsors. Past projects have included free community health and vision screenings, mental health outreach supporting farmworkers and underserved youth, assistance with Medi-Cal enrollment for immigrant families, student-led health education workshops, and culturally responsive public health engagement across California communities.
Funding Information
Grants will average $250-$1500. Lesser or greater amounts may be awarded when appropriate. In the grant application, applicants may request up to $2,500 and must justify the request with a detailed budget showing how the funds will be used.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to receive funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Located in California
- Medical student organization (may be a club, class group, student organization, etc. based at an allopathic or osteopathic medical school and does not have to be 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization)
- The project must be a health-related educational, advocacy, community service, or other outreach project that enhances the wellbeing of California’s communities.
