With every swipe of a Local Heroes debit card, Gesa members earn funds designated for firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, educators and Veterans. The Gesa Local Heroes Grant Program awards these funds to eligible organizations.

Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for a Local Heroes Grant, an organization must provide proof that the requested project funds will support a local heroes population (firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, educators or Veterans) in a Gesa community. A Gesa community is defined as any community in the state of Washington and select counties in Idaho and Oregon, listed below:
- Idaho: Ada, Adams, Benewah, Boise, Bonner, Boundary, Canyon, Clearwater, Gem, Idaho, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, Payette, Shoshone, Valley, Washington
- Oregon: Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Douglas, Gilliam, Hood River, Jackson, Lane, Lincoln, Linn,Marion, Morrow, Multnomah, Polk, Sherman, Tillamook, Umatilla, Union, Wasco, Washington, Yamhill
