Through the Oregon Digital Equity Program (ODEP) Grant Application for Education Service Districts, Public School Districts and schools, and Public Library Service Districts and public libraries, the Oregon Digital Equity Program will make $6.7 million in federal funding available to eligible organizations to implement the activities in the State of Oregon Digital Equity Plan and carry out digital inclusion activities for members of covered populations in the state and to encourage the adoption of internet technologies for the purposes of economic and workforce development, health outcomes, civic and social engagement and the delivery of essential state services.
ODEP will prioritize projects that address the immediate needs of Covered Populations for the following critical barriers identified in the DE Plan:
- Low-income households struggle to consistently afford broadband internet services, internet-enabled computing devices, and technical support; and individuals who are members of Covered Populations require support to develop digital literacy skills.
- Members of Covered Populations require support to develop digital literacy skills, especially people with disabilities and persons for which English as a second language; and online safety and privacy, especially for older adults; and the online accessibility and inclusivity of public resources and services for people with disabilities and people who have low levels of literacy and/or are English language learners.
Funding Information
- Total Funding: $6.7 million.
- Up to 10 subgrants between $500,000 and $1,000,000 per award.
