- Basic school supplies for a classroom
- Classroom sets of books
- Books, furniture, or media equipment for a school library
- Resources to support mental health and Social Emotional Learning for students
- Tutoring programs and/or materials to address learning loss
- Events or programs to strengthen the school’s engagement with families and communities to meet student needs
- Sanitation supplies for student safety.
Eligibility Criteria
- The school or nonprofit must indicate the specific use of the grant funds and how it will positively affect students.
- Applicants should be educators in grades K through 12.
- Priority will be given to Title I public schools, or schools with 50% or more of its full-time students receiving free or reduced meals. Preference is given to schools serving students in Alabama Power’s service territory.
- Nonprofits who partner with schools may apply for this grant. However, the application should be in the school’s name, and the funds will be dispersed directly to the school.
- Schools and nonprofits submitting an application must indicate the specific intended use of the grant money and an estimate of how many students will be affected.
- Nonprofits partnering with schools to provide mental health needs must work with the school to fill out the required information in the grant application.
- All applications will be reviewed by Alabama Power Foundation for adherence to the Classroom Grant guidelines. If time permits prior to the deadline, schools will be notified if their grant applications must be modified. Applications submitted on the last day will not be able to be modified if there are problems.
