A grant provided through this opportunity will support improvements to the Dr. Young Building site. A partial building collapse has created a hazardous situation, leading to the closure of Main Street, the city’s primary thoroughfare. The remaining structure is unstable, posing a risk to Golconda residents’ safety. The closure of Main Street is expected to negatively impact the city’s economic stability. Grant funding will allow a transformation of the approximately 8,000 square foot Dr. Young Building into a functional property geared toward community use. This project will be part of a multi-step plan with this funding being used to address demolition, clearing, and stabilization costs.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include a volunteer-driven non-profit organization located in Golconda, Illinois which have jurisdiction to perform the project intent. Applicants that do not meet this criterion are ineligible. Proof of eligibility is required at the time the application is submitted.
