The Indianapolis African American Quality of Life Initiative (IAAQLI) is now accepting proposals for programs that promote economic mobility for African American residents in Indianapolis and Marion County, Indiana. This grant opportunity focuses on expanding access to workforce training, technical skills development, and support services that prepare individuals for in-demand career paths and long-term job success.
IAAQLI is offering a total of $2.5 million in funding. Individual projects can request between $150,000 and $250,000. Proposals should align with one or more of the initiative’s key goals, including comprehensive career preparation and technology or technical skills training in high-growth industries like technology, AI, construction, and digital services.
Programs should also consider removing barriers to employment by addressing transportation and providing wraparound support services. Organizations eligible to apply must be classified as 501(c)(3) public charities, including nonprofits, schools, healthcare providers, and workforce development agencies. Preference is given to African American-led organizations with deep roots in Marion County.
Collaborative proposals are welcome and should include letters of support from partner organizations, detailing their role and contributions. Applicants are encouraged to present a clear plan for measuring outcomes and to emphasize cross-sector collaboration. The application deadline is August 11, 2025.
