This year, the Foundation for MetroWest seeks to award one-time general operating grants of up to $20,000 to support human services organizations in MetroWest. The Foundation has a strong interest in supporting organizations focused on prevention-based models. Grant decisions and amounts will be determined based on a variety of factors, including:
- Organization size – understanding the impact of a grant of this size for your organization
- Location(s) of impact – demonstrating commitment to MetroWest and role in the region’s social services ecosystem, including strong collaboration and partnership in the region
- Organization impact and reach – including population served, type(s) of programming offered, etc.
- Organization’s leadership and financial health
- Alignment with the Foundation’s priorities.
In 2024, the Foundation will be prioritizing organizations that demonstrate a commitment to and strong mission alignment with addressing the needs of under resourced or underrepresented individuals and households through services that meet one or more of the following:
- Economic opportunity and security
- Safety and wellbeing
- Mental and behavioral health
The Foundation also values organizations that demonstrate:
- the ability to address identified community needs through sustainable client-informed and client focused solutions
- practices that foster collaboration across communities and sectors to benefit & improve the entire social service system.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must:
- Have 501(c)(3) tax status as a registered nonprofit organization OR have an eligible fiscal sponsor
- Not discriminate in the hiring of staff or the provision of services on the basis of race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or disability
- Serve one or more of the following MetroWest cities/towns: Acton, Ashland, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Harvard, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lexington, Lincoln, Marlborough, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Needham, Sherborn, Southborough, Stow, Sudbury, Walpole, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Westborough, Weston, Westwood
- Ineligible organizations or requests include:
- City/town agencies
- Individuals
- Schools – private, public, pre-K, charter, or Chapter 766
- Healthcare or disease-specific organizations
- Organizations only seeking capital support
- Organizations solely focused on youth or hunger relief initiatives.
