The South Carolina Film Commission (SCFC), in partnership with Trident Technical College (TTC), is inviting filmmakers across South Carolina to apply for INDIE Grants—a unique opportunity to fund narrative short film projects with high production value and strong storytelling. These grants are designed not only to bring creative visions to life but also to support workforce training and professional development within the state’s production industry.
Grant awards typically range from $25,000 to $45,000, covering everything from production to post-production. Projects supported through INDIE Grants have gone on to screen at major festivals like Sundance, Tribeca, Slamdance, and the American Black Film Festival, showcasing the program’s commitment to excellence and industry relevance.
Filmmakers must submit a narrative short script (up to 15 pages, not including title page) and a comprehensive Project Deck, which outlines both the creative vision and production strategy. This includes the story’s purpose, target audience, director’s vision, proposed filming locations in South Carolina, team bios with samples, and strategies for casting, stunts, or VFX if applicable.
Applicants are expected to bring creativity, efficiency, and professionalism to every stage of production. Grant decisions are made based on project quality, feasibility, and alignment with SCFC’s goals. The submission deadline is August 11, 2025, and all applicants must be based in South Carolina.
