The UVA Community Health is committed to giving back to the communities they serve. One of the ways they do so is by partnering with organizations that support the significant health needs highlighted in the most recent community health needs assessment. In working to address these health concerns, they award grants to support local non-profits.
Types of Grant
This year, UVA Community Health is offering two different types of grants to qualified applicants:
- Healthy Spark Grants are for organizations that focus on the needs outlined in community health needs assessment (CHNA), as well as on social determinants of health, which are the non-medical factors that influence a person’s health and well-being, such as economic stability, access to healthcare, healthy lifestyle, and access to healthy food and physical activity opportunities.
- Community Strong Grants are larger grants offered to organizations that UVA Community Health partnered with for more than two years, focus on needs outlined in CHNA, as well as community benefit significant identified health needs, such as mental health, behavioral health, chronic disease, and access to care.
Funding Information
Individual grant awards start at $2,500.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible to receive a monetary contribution or an in-kind contribution from UVA Health, an organization must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Align with mission, vision, and values of UVA Community Health
- Support or align with clinical service offerings
- Support or align with UVA Community Health growth priorities and provide them with visibility in key markets
- Organization or program reaches healthcare consumers serve or would like to serve
- Organization or program reaches a diverse and/or underserved populations
- Organization or program collects data and measures the quantifiable impact resulting from the grant contribution as measured against other priorities
- Be a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501 (c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (Note: Other acceptable, tax– exempt organizations, such as under Section 501c(4) or 501c(6) may be eligible for community impact funding)
- Serve communities that are also served by UVA Community Health. That includes at least one of the following regions: City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, Culpeper County, Fauquier County, Madison County, Orange County, Rappahannock County, and/or Prince William County
- Serve communities without discrimination against any individual on the basis of race, creed, gender, age, sexual orientation or national origin
- Requested funding may not support a program or project that has received UVA Community Health funding for the same purpose in the same fiscal year
- Applicants may not be eligible to receive both a grant and a sponsorship in the same fiscal year.
