The grants are designed to provide financial assistance to an applicant for a cost that currently limits the applicant’s ability to start, run or grow its Beef Business as desired. For example, granted funds may be utilized to purchase a new piece of equipment, cover operating costs, build new infrastructure, or hire labor.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for consideration for a grant, an applicant must:
- Operate its Beef Business in an economically depressed or blighted area in Texas or Oklahoma.
- Be disadvantaged (e.g., minority, unemployed or underemployed).
- Own and operate a Beef Business that has experienced difficulty in obtaining conventional financing because of its existence in a deteriorated neighborhood or because of his/her disadvantaged status.
- Not be an employee, officer or member of the Board of Directors of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association or a parent, spouse, child or grandchild of any such person.
- Not have received a grant from the Foundation in any of the immediately preceding two (2) years.
