The Working Here Fund grant program, offered by AgCountry Farm Credit Services, provides funding to nonprofit organizations operating in select counties across North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. This grant supports a wide range of community-focused initiatives, especially those that serve rural populations.
The program offers financial support scaled to fit both small and large projects. Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded quarterly, while larger grants of up to $15,000 and $25,000 are awarded twice a year. The maximum an organization can receive is $25,000 over a five-year period, and typically no more than one grant will be awarded per organization within a 12-month span.
Funding is available for projects that focus on agriculture education, hunger relief, rural disaster relief, and rural health services. Examples include educational programs about agriculture, initiatives addressing food insecurity, support during natural disasters, and healthcare services in rural areas.
To be eligible, programs must benefit communities within the AgCountry Farm Credit Services service area. This includes dozens of counties across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Nonprofits must also align with AgCountry’s values and mission. While IRS 501(c)(3) status is not strictly required, preference is given to organizations with that designation.
Grant requests that meet the criteria are reviewed by an internal AgCountry committee. All grants are discretionary, may be partially funded, and are restricted to specific purposes. Receiving a grant previously does not ensure future funding.
Certain types of projects are ineligible for funding. These include political activities, individual endeavors, sports teams, religious or sectarian programs, private hobbies, and any initiatives that do not align with AgCountry’s policies or values.
Deadlines vary by funding level. Applications for up to $5,000 must be submitted by September 30, 2025. Larger requests up to $15,000 or $25,000 are due by December 31, 2025.
