The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is accepting applications for its Nonprofit Solar Project, a grant initiative aimed at addressing environmental disparities through sustainable energy solutions. In partnership with private donors and Solar United Neighbors of Arizona, this project supports nonprofits in Pima County that serve marginalized communities.
The goal is to help eligible nonprofits transition to solar energy, lowering their utility costs, reducing carbon emissions, and freeing up funds for core programs and services. By investing in distributed solar power, the initiative not only reduces environmental burdens but also sets a visible example of clean energy adoption across the county.
To qualify, applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations located in Pima County and must own the property where the solar panels will be installed. Properties must have at least 500 square feet of usable space and demonstrate solar readiness. Organizations must also submit 6–12 months of utility bills and have been at the location for at least six months.
The application deadline is August 18, 2025, and prior recipients are not eligible to reapply. The project prioritizes those serving environmentally impacted communities and organizations committed to sharing their solar success to inspire broader adoption.
