Examples of fundable projects include, but are not limited to:
- audience-based arts experiences that focus on new or under-resourced audiences and/or artists such as performances, exhibits, screenings, readings, fairs, public art projects, and festivals
- creative placemaking through public art projects that engage artist(s) and community members to help re-envision public spaces, strengthen community identity, meet community goals or projects that support revitalization efforts to help a community reflect on or recover from a recent disaster
- participatory creative experiences that support arts focused activities with groups of specific ages, income, genders, races, abilities, geographic regions, and/or activities that encourage interaction between or among these groups
Priority Areas
The program prioritizes the following:
- Removal of barriers to participation in the arts. Projects that engage individuals with limited access to the arts due to age, ability, income, race, geography, or other factors. This can also include funding to support accessibility accommodation for your arts activities (e.g., sign language interpreters, audio describers, captioners, translators/interpreters, etc.)
- Cross-sector collaborations. Projects that demonstrate meaningful collaborations between arts and non-arts organizations
- Geographic region. Projects from applicants, communities, towns or populations etc. that that have not been recently funded by an Arts Council grant
Funding Information
- Grant awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.
- Funded activities must be completed between September 1, 2026, and August 31, 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
Vermont 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, local government, and/or
municipalities that:
- have a Unique Entity ID (UEI) from the federal government.
- have applied for a 2027 Cultural Facilities or Animating Infrastructure grant for a different project
- Vermont nonprofits or community groups of three or more people without 501(c)(3) taxexempt status can apply through a fiscal agent. (The fiscal agent must be a charitable nonprofit organization incorporated in Vermont as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
