Program Goals
- Implementing proactive conservation and recovery actions that help achieve delisting or precluding the need to list species as endangered or threatened.
- Collecting data and other information to inform the development and implementation of proactive conservation and recovery efforts or best management practices/design features for BLM Special Status Species, assisting with delisting or precluding the need to list species as endangered or threatened.
- Evaluating and updating available information to help streamline permitting processes including ESA 7a2 consultations, thereby improving efficiencies and expediency in authorization approvals on BLM lands.
- Increasing public awareness and understanding of BLM Special Status species and their habitats on public and private lands.
