The Emergency Services Grant Program Advisory Committee (ESGPAC) provides recommendations to Boulder County regarding the grant program portion of the Emergency Services Sales and Use Tax. One round of funding is dedicated to fire districts that serve the mountain and rural areas of unincorporated Boulder County. A second round of funding is offered to search and rescue organizations that provide services in Boulder County.
The grants can be applied toward:
- Equipment and capital purchases and upgrades;
- Specialized training for emergency personnel;
- Operational enhancements to improve response capabilities;
- Infrastructure improvements to better support emergency services.
These grants aim to enhance the overall readiness and efficiency of fire districts, search and rescue operations, and other emergency service providers within Boulder County.
Funding Information
Boulder County anticipates that between $2.0 and $2.5 million of the annual revenue from the Emergency Services Sales and Use Tax will be available for grant funding. These funds will be distributed through two grant cycles each year. For the fall 2024 grant round, they anticipate that $1.7 million will be available for distribution.

Grants Criteria
- All-inclusive one-time grants only (no multi-year or ongoing grants);
- Awarded grants do not require repayment, but must be substantiated with receipts within one year of funding;
- Cooperative and cross-agency grant applications and proposals that enhance coordination between districts and organizations are encouraged;
- Availability of matching requirements or matching funds availability should be noted in the application but is not a requirement for funding;
