The Neighborhood Grants Program (NGP) is a commitment by the Community Foundation for Monterey County to support grassroots, community, and volunteer-led initiatives. The program focuses on empowering local groups to bring together residents to identify community challenges and implement solutions. NGP provides both financial and technical assistance to these groups for projects that aim to enhance the quality of life in their neighborhoods.
NGP offers grants ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 for projects or activities that directly benefit local communities in Monterey County. The goal is to fund projects that will have a meaningful impact on residents, particularly in areas with the greatest needs and fewest resources. Eligible groups must have at least five unrelated volunteers and be based in Monterey County, with priority given to areas such as Salinas Valley, South County, Salinas, North County, Seaside, Marina, and other rural areas.
Applications for the grant program are accepted throughout the year until all available funds are distributed. Groups interested in applying are encouraged to reach out to staff for guidance and support. Applicants should ensure they meet all criteria, including the ability to open a bank account in the group’s name. Additionally, groups that have not yet submitted a final report for previous grants are not eligible to apply.
