The City of Lewes (“City”) recognizes and wants to encourage the significant contributions made by nonprofit organizations and their volunteers by offering grants to support such work.
The City will consider requests for projects/services in two categories and grant applicants should select one or the other in their application.
First, Lewes supports projects/services that build community and enhance neighborhoods, including
- beautification;
- community support/improvements;
- education; and
- recreation,
- arts, history and culture and
- environmental protection and promotion.
Second, Lewes supports projects/services that help to fulfill a city service or meet the city’s needs, including
- public safety,
- human services and
- economic development.
Funding Information
The City invites local non-profits to apply for grants larger than $5,000 for projects or services to the City that align with the City’s Core Values and Comprehensive Plan.
Eligibility Criteria
The City has limited funding (less than 1% of its total expenditures) to support grants to non-profit organizations and the City’s support includes both in-kind and financial resources. Nonprofit organization refers to a corporation that is incorporated in the City.
