This fund will support filmmakers who demonstrate a commitment to storytelling and offer a unique vision for exploring compelling narratives through short documentaries.
Funding Support
Selected filmmakers will receive financial support of up to $20,000 to assist in the production of their short documentary film. Selected projects are eligible for mentorship and guidance throughout the production process, up to $5,000 in rental credit at Vault Rentals, finishing services at Lockt Editorial, and high-quality music, footage, and images from partners Musicbed, Filmsupply and Stills.
Submission Criteria
- Short Documentary Films
- Proposals should be for short human-centered documentary films, with a duration of up to 20 minutes. These must be untold stories with no existing brand involvement.
- Self-Sufficiency
- Filmmakers must be self-sufficient, with previous experience as non-fiction storytellers and having a proven track record of bringing their documentary projects to life.
- Originality and Innovation
- They seek proposals that exhibit originality, creative storytelling, and a unique perspective on the given subject matter.
- Inclusive Storytelling
- Stept Studios encourages filmmakers to explore a wide range of human experiences, and to ensure a diverse and inclusive representation of the stories they tell.
