Types of Grants

• Organizational Development Grants: To provide support for nonprofits to retain a consultant to assist in strengthening their organization. These may include:
  • Governance training
  • Strategic planning
  • Improved fiscal management (i.e., audit costs)
  • Asset development planning
  • Legal counsel (i.e., bylaws, governance documents, memorandum of understanding)
• Programmatic Grants: To provide support for nonprofits to fund special projects that serve their client population or to support existing programs that have a demonstrated history of success. Examples of covered costs:
  • Materials and supplies necessary for the program
  • Salary support, in particular situations (e.g., case management)
  • Programmatic software
  • Needs assessments
• Equipment Grants: To provide support for the purchase of equipment needed to serve the organization’s client population. Examples include:
  • Financial software
  • Donor databases
  • Office equipment (i.e., computers, printers)
  • Programmatic equipment (i.e., refrigerators for soup kitchens, patient medical tools).
