The City is offering Community Empowerment Grants of up to $2,500 to support residents or local groups committed to fostering a culture of belonging.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be reviewed by the City’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Applicants may also be invited to participate in a Zoom meeting with members of the selection committee to address any further questions regarding their application.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate grant proposals:
- Significance – How well does the project advance principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and community? How clearly are the goals and objectives stated? How many people will potentially benefit from this project?
- Action Plan – How well is the project defined? Are the primary objectives of the project clear? What strategies are in place to ensure inclusive participation from diverse groups? What resources are needed to implement this project?
- Likelihood of Success – How feasible is the project in terms of time, budget, and available resources.
- Creativity – How creative is this project/imitative?
Limitations
Funds may not be used for illegal activities, alcohol or marijuana/CBD purchases, political or religious activities, or uses involving gambling, firearms or adult entertainment. Items purchased with grant funds may not be resold or used as giveaway items. The City of Shaker Heights is not liable for uses of the funds.
