The City anticipates awarding approximately $2,047,681 to eligible projects under this solicitation. The exact amount awarded may change based on available funds and the quantity and quality of applications received. Of this amount, $472,213 is reserved for applicants who are certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).
Eligible Activities
- HOME funds may be used to acquire, rehabilitate, or construct affordable rental housing primarily for occupancy by households of individuals and families that meet the HUD definition of low-income households. The use of HOME funding under this request for proposal must result in the creation or rehabilitation of rental housing that adds affordable housing units to the participating jurisdiction’s market area.
- Eligible HOME rental housing includes “housing”, manufactured housing and manufactured housing lots, permanent housing for disabled homeless persons, transitional housing, single-room occupancy housing, and group homes. Housing also includes elder cottage housing opportunity (ECHO) units that are small, free-standing, barrier free, energy-efficient, removable, and designed to be installed adjacent to existing single-family dwellings. Housing does not include emergency shelters (including shelters for disaster victims) or facilities such as nursing homes, convalescent homes, hospitals, residential treatment facilities, correctional facilities, halfway houses, housing for students, or dormitories (including farmworker dormitories).
