After an application has been approved, grants of $5,000, $10,000, and $15,000 will be distributed in three payments (subject to appropriation each fiscal year) after meeting all required criteria in phases of pre-production, production, post-production, and completed project.
Eligibility Criteria
- A project must be either a Production or a Digital Media Project, as defined below.
- Applicants applying for the $5,000 must provide proof of residency in Muscogee County.
- Applicants may only qualify for one grant every other year.
- The applicant applying for a grant must be 18 years of age.
- The applicant applying for the $10,000 or the $15,000 grant must be a practicing filmmaker (director, producer, or writer) who in the past three (3) years has created a body of original film(s) and has received distribution or acceptance into a film festival, as defined below. A resume/CV, proof of distribution, and examples of past and current work are required to support this claim. Applicants must also show two forms of proof residency in Muscogee County of at least 12 months. (i.e. Georgia Drivers, Utility Bills, Mortgage Agreement, Lease Agreement.
- A completed script, story synopsis, budget and filming schedule must be submitted with the application.
- 80% of the production days must be filmed in Muscogee County.
- 70% of the cast and crew must be Muscogee County residents.
- 50% of vendors must be Muscogee County businesses.
- Columbus Film Office logo must be included in the credits.
- Promotional stills and marketing materials must be provided prior to the release of the production project to the Film Office for use on their website and other marketing efforts.
- Grantees must demonstrate plans for project distribution (film festivals, screenings, agreements with networks/streaming platforms, etc.) for project tracking and promotional purposes.
- Film Project will need to be shown in the Columbus Film Festival. Information will follow.
