Goals
All grant applicants should meet one or more of the following goals:
- Support new and established cultural arts and heritage programs that serve Hillsboro residents
- Raise awareness of cultural arts and heritage programs that serve Hillsboro residents
- Foster collaboration
- Provide access to cultural arts and heritage experiences for those who are underserved, including those underserved due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual identity, health status, income, lack of transportation, geographic area, or other reasons to be defined in your application
- Celebrate Hillsboro’s Sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) in 2026
Funding Information
- Project grants are funded up to $6,000.
- Level 1: $0 – $3,000.
- Level 2: $0 – $6,000.
Project Period
June 1, 2026 – May 30, 2027.
Eligible Projects
Examples of fundable projects include, but are not limited to:
- Community Programs
- Program improvements that increase access to cultural arts and heritage for underserved populations
- Performances, music, exhibitions, screenings, readings, or festivals
- Workshops, lectures, demonstrations, master classes, panel discussions, etc.
- Cultural festivals or celebrations
- Youth programming, including in-school and out-of-school opportunities
- Touring Exhibits
- Sesquicentennial Programs
- Performances, music, exhibitions, screenings, readings, or festivals that celebrate the rich tapestry of Hillsboro’s community in honor of the City’s Sesquicentennial
- Lectures, demonstrations, panel discussions, etc. that illuminate Hillsboro’s history
- Exhibits or tours celebrating Hillsboro’s present or history
- Technical Assistance/Capacity Building Goals
- Working with a consultant to develop a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan, funding strategies, marketing plans, or other capacity-building initiatives
- Technology advancement such as website development, systems development for ticketing, graphic design, or other organizational needs
- Training and software or hardware needed for program production
- Enhance marketing and communications
- Translation of website or program materials
- Partnerships that support economic and community development efforts
Eligibility Criteria
For Level 1
- IRS Non-profit status is not required.
- To be considered for a Level 1 project grant, an organization or individual must:
- Apply for a grant that specifically addresses the goal(s) within this document
- Provide a Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- Apply for arts and cultural events or activities in Hillsboro with a primary responsibility to serve the residents of Hillsboro
- Complete the budget form for the proposed project
- Provide a roster of Board Members, if any
- Provide a list of confirmed project partners, if any, with contact information and roles identified, and letter of partnership attached
For Level 2
- IRS Non-profit status, such as 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) is required
- To be considered for a Level 2 project grant, an organization must:
- Comply with Level 1 eligibility criteria
- Have IRS non-profit status. A letter verifying the status may be requested.
