The Greater Washington Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its Bridge Grants program. These grants are designed to provide targeted support for nonprofit organizations facing operational challenges, helping them maintain their critical work.
The program is open to nonprofits in Maryland and Virginia, including Arlington County, Fairfax County, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County. Organizations can apply for grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 with a two-year grant duration.
Bridge Grants are divided into two categories: the first supports nonprofits that have experienced substantial funding losses since January 2025. The second provides resources for organizations to engage in scenario planning and explore strategic options, such as mergers or strategic alliances. Most grants under Category 1 are expected to be under $100,000, while those in Category 2 will likely be under $50,000.
To be eligible, organizations must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or a fiscal sponsor. Additionally, they must serve the Greater Washington region and not be listed on the OFAC or Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate group list. Organizations that have previously received grants through the foundation must be in compliance with reporting requirements.
The deadline for applications is ongoing, and the funding period will last for 24 months.
