The Conformance with the Egg Regulatory Program Standards funding opportunity aims to support a nationally integrated food regulatory system. It assists state egg regulatory programs in achieving and maintaining full conformance with the Egg Regulatory Program Standards (ERPS).
This grant, offered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is open to all states and counties. It provides funding ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 for a project period of up to three years. The deadline to apply is August 12, 2025.
The ERPS Cooperative Agreement funds state programs to develop a plan to fully implement the standards within five years of their first funding. It also helps enhance egg regulatory programs to protect public health. The grant encourages sharing of inspection, compliance, enforcement, and laboratory data between states and the FDA.
Additionally, the program aims to better use state regulatory resources to reduce egg-related illnesses caused by shell egg hazards in production, processing, packing, holding, or transportation facilities.
The goals are to strengthen efforts to prevent foodborne illness, reduce exposure to contaminated eggs by supporting consistent and effective egg safety standards, and improve regulatory oversight and inspection capacity across states.
The estimated total program funding is $94,000, with an award ceiling of $47,000 per grant. The maximum project duration is three years.
Eligible applicants include state egg regulatory programs currently under FDA egg inspection contracts or those willing to enter into such contracts in 2025. Applicants must have a long-term information-sharing agreement in place and commit to full conformance with the ERPS.
Funding is initially provided for one year, with the possibility of up to two additional years of non-competitive support based on performance and federal fund availability. Full conformance is expected within five years, and future funding may support programs that maintain full compliance.
