The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to provide financial and technical support for the Transportation Research Board (TRB), a division within the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), to provide, “Core Program Services for a Highway Research, Development, and Technology Program.
The goals of this cooperative agreement are to provide funding and technical support to TRB to ensure that the results of research are successfully coordinated and disseminated to FHWA, and throughout the transportation industry. The work under the agreement supports that objective by funding the following activities to be performed by TRB:
- Support a national program of highway research, development, and technology;
- Encourage and promote the establishment of research activities within highway agencies;
- Disseminate highway and intermodal transportation research findings and promote their implementation;
- Maintain and operate the TRID;
- Conduct a research and development coordination and communications program; and,
- Conduct studies, reviews, and conferences relating to highway and intermodal transportation, safety, and technology.
Funding Information
$7,000,000 (estimated funding over five years).
