With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to fund proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects examining the impact of court and other criminal justice tools, practices, and policies on the administration of justice and public safety in state, local, and tribal jurisdictions. In FY2024, the solicitation is focused on four research priorities and their impact on charging, case flow, outcomes, and other prosecution functions:
- advance prosecution practice and resource management;
- promote fair prosecution and impartial administration of justice;
- build prosecution data resources, research capacity, and transparency; and
- enhance the prosecution workforce and court workgroup.
Goals
The goal of this solicitation is to provide objective and independent knowledge and tools that support courts and other agencies in state, tribal, and local jurisdictions in their efforts to reform the criminal justice system with respect to prosecution.
Objectives
The objectives of this solicitation are to support applied prosecution research on: advancing practice and resource management; promoting fair and impartial administration of justice; building data resources, research capacity, and transparency; and enhancing the workforce and court workgroup.
