The goal of this program is to support minor victims of human trafficking to improve the quality and accessibility of services delivered by funding national, state, and local victim service organizations.
Objectives
- Increase the availability, type, and quality of programs available to serve minor victims of sex and labor trafficking.
- Train individuals to respond to minor victims of sex and labor trafficking.
- Develop protocols and procedures, as needed, to address the sex and labor trafficking of minors.
OVC anticipates that funding through this initiative will include the following activities:
- Providing services to meet the needs of minor victims of sex and labor trafficking.
- Providing outreach and education to local partners (e.g., service providers, criminal and juvenile justice and child welfare professionals, community- and faith-based organizations, survivors) to ensure minor victims of sex and labor trafficking are properly identified, responded to, and provided with services.
- Establishing community-based interventions with local partners to develop a continuum of care tailored to the specific needs of minor victims of sex and labor trafficking.
- Providing essential services (either directly or through referrals), including emergency aid (e.g. provision of food, clothing, drop-in shelters, and other direct services that address the immediate needs of minor victims of sex and labor trafficking) and longerterm support (i.e., education, job training, behavioral health treatment, and other direct services).
- Collecting data and participate in assessment activities to determine if the program is meeting stated goals and objectives.
