The Department seeks to fund projects that advance the Departmental priorities of safety and equity. The Department is committed to advancing safe, efficient transportation, including in the State Process for Informing Consumers of Recalls. The outcomes that are anticipated from the project funded from the State Process for Informing Consumers of Recalls project should align with the NRSS. The Department seeks to award projects under the State Process for Informing Consumers of Recalls program will create proportional impacts to all populations in a project area, remove transportation related disparities to all populations in a project area, and increase equitable access to project benefits.
Grants will support States in developing a methodology for determining open recalls on motor vehicles, informing owners and lessees of the open recalls at the time of registration, and evaluating through the analysis of completed recalls the performance of the notification program.
Funding Information
- A total of $1,100,000 is available to fund FY 2024 grant awards.
- Recalls in fiscal years 2025 and 2026, with $1,500,000 available in each fiscal year.
Project Period
The period of performance is thirty (30) months.
Eligibility Criteria
Section 24103 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also referred to as BIL, P.L. 117-58 limits eligibility for an award to a State. Accordingly, Applications may be submitted by the department or office of the State that is responsible for motor vehicle registration.
