The Program supports creative projects which can demonstrate that they will make a sustained difference to communities. The Program’s current funding priority areas include:
- Waterfront Protection & Public Access: Promote conservation and enhance access to New York City’s waterfronts.
- Community Support & Inclusiveness: Address systemic neighborhood challenges.
- Environmental Protection & Climate Resiliency: Enhance green spaces, increase tree canopy, and support other climate initiatives.
- Education & Workforce Development: Support young people’s potential and increase job opportunities through STEM programming and mentorship.
Funding Information
Grants are awarded at one of three levels: $5,000, $15,000, or $30,000.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are welcome from:
- Established non-profits, 501 (c)(3) organizations that have been in operation for 5 years or more and that have a focus on action oriented, strategic, and community-centered initiatives.
- Projects. programs and initiatives that have a track record of at least two years. Exceptions may be made for offshore wind specific focused programs on case-by-case basis.
- Projects, programs, and initiatives based in or targeting Southwest Brooklyn, especially Sunset Park. New York City focused projects with a nexus to Southwest Brooklyn and its local waterways will also be considered.
Organizations can receive funding for up to two consecutive years. Organizations that have received funding for two consecutive years may reapply to the grants program after a one-year hiatus.
Exclusions
- The Program will not fund organizations without a 501(c)(3) status or a comparable fiscal sponsor, or activities that are political, sectarian, or contradict Equinor’s values. The program does not fund faith-based organizations, political candidate campaigns, conferences or events, donations or event sponsorships, or initiatives limited to the construction of buildings or infrastructure.
- Funds may not benefit public officials, government entities or key decision makers when such parties may become involved in discretionary decisions that relate to Equinor.
