The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is now accepting applications for its Family Violence Prevention and Services Act Grant Program. This grant is designed to support efforts that prevent family, domestic, and dating violence, while providing shelter and services to victims and their dependents.
Funding helps organizations establish, maintain, or expand programs that offer immediate shelter and supportive services. It also supports safety planning, counseling, peer support, and referrals to community-based services to aid victims in recovery. Specialized services for children exposed to violence, including culturally and linguistically appropriate care, are also funded.
Additional support includes advocacy, case management, and referrals related to legal aid, medical services, housing assistance, transportation, child care, job training, financial literacy, and parenting education. Prevention outreach, especially to underserved populations, is a key component of the program.
Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000 for a funding period running from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. Eligible costs cover personnel, supplies, travel, counseling, safety planning, medical and legal advocacy, children’s services, shelter operations, and prevention activities such as transportation and emergency housing.
Eligible applicants include local public agencies and nonprofit private organizations, including faith-based and community groups, tribal organizations, and voluntary associations with a proven history of effective work in family or domestic violence assistance.
The program aims to strengthen and expand services that protect and empower victims of violence across Indiana.
