Funds are also available for court proceedings and related programs, including, but not limited to, mental health courts, drug courts, and veteran’s treatment courts.
The SCIP Advisory Board will inform and guide the state regarding gun violence reduction programs and initiatives, including specific strategies, priorities, budgets, and timelines for the grant award process and outlining the approaches in the State Crisis Intervention Program Plan. The SCIP Advisory Board is comprised of seven members, each representing one of the following areas: law enforcement, the community, the courts, prosecutors, behavioral health providers, victim service providers, and the legal profession.
Funding Information
There is approximately $1.28 million available for grant awards.
Grant Period
Grant projects funded by SCIP shall be for a period of 12 months, beginning January 1, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026. Any funds not obligated by December 31, 2026, must be returned to the KGGP.
Use of Grant Funds
SCIP funds cannot be used for:
- Costs incurred in applying for, administering, or auditing the grant;
- Lobbying or fundraising;
- Expenses outside of the SCIP Priority/Initiative areas;
- Land acquisition;
- Luxury items;
- Construction projects;
- Infrastructure investments; or
- Vehicles.
Eligibility Criteria
- Units of state and local government; Tribes; and nonprofit, community, and faith-based organizations, including underserved and culturally specific populations.
- The Kansas Judicial Branch and/or any court in Kansas requesting the creation of a specific treatment court, enhancement, or expansion of an existing treatment court are eligible to apply.
