In Frederick County, food insecurity continues to impact the health, stability, and well-being of residents. The Frederick County FEED Grant Program is a targeted initiative to support local organizations responding to increased food needs, particularly those affected by the recent federal government shutdown and delays in SNAP benefits.
This grant opportunity helps organizations continue or expand food-related services, including the purchase of food and essential food service equipment. The program is administered in partnership with the Community Foundation of Frederick County and supported by Frederick County, Maryland.
The Frederick FEED Grant Program is open to nonprofit, religious and civic organizations that provide food, groceries, backpack food programs, or serve meals to people within Frederick County. Applicants must demonstrate a need for funding, and submit a project description, budget, and organizational documentation.
Grants may be used to expand food distribution efforts, general operating support for food related initiatives, administrative overhead directly tied to food service delivery, and capital purchases such as refrigerators, freezer, and food storage.
Funding Information
Total Available Funding: $1,000,000 ($500,000 per round).
Grant Period
June 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.
Eligible Uses
- Food distribution and meal programs
- General operating support for food-related initiatives
- Administrative overhead directly tied to food service delivery
- Capital purchases (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, food storage). Vehicles are not eligible.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be one of the following:
- A nonprofit 501(c)(3) in good standing and/or existing food banks, pantries and religious organizations that:
- Provide food commodities, bagged groceries, backpack food programs, or hot meals to residents.
- Applicants must demonstrate a need for funding, and submit a project description, budget, and organizational documentation.
- Serve Frederick County residents (at least 51% of program participants must reside in Frederick County)
- Be in compliance with:
- Maryland Secretary of State’s Charitable Division
- Maryland Department of Assessments & Taxation
- IRS requirements.
