Full Plate Grant Program to support Nonprofits in Illinois

Details:

The grant program aims to promote collective action in an effort to close the hunger gap in Chicago, and intends to support local nonprofit organizations providing access to food and meal services. 

This grant opportunity is open to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations only. Applications to be considered for grant recommendations will be evaluated based on need, impact, and demonstration of fiscal responsibility.  

This program is being administered in partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Nourishing Hope. Any notifications or updates will be provided by Grubhub. 

Funding Information

  • Grubhub’s goal is to recommend a total of up to $1 million in grants through the Grubhub Community Fund.
  • Awarded organization will be recommended for grant funding up to $10,000 to support their program efforts.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (public charity) established prior to January 1, 2023.
  • Must be located in Chicago or surrounding suburbs (Cook, DuPage, and Lake counties).
  • Must have programming dedicated to providing access to food/meals to those experiencing food insecurity.
  • Food programs must be open to the general public. Please note: services can be dedicated to addressing needs within specific communities/neighborhoods.
  • Must be in good standing under both applicable federal and state laws.
  • The board of directors must consist of three or more directors in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Religious Organizations
    • To be eligible for funding, you must:
      • Have an existing partnership with at least one program partner, Greater Chicago Food Depository and/or Nourishing Hope.
      • Have an established program providing regular food services/programming open to the general public.
  • Eligible organizations must demonstrate proximity to community served (i.e. organizational representation, local organization serving local communities, etc.).

They will not fund:

  • Individuals.
  • Organizations with an annual operating budget of $1,000,000 or more.
  • For-profit organizations including social enterprises.
  • Schools including public, private, and colleges/universities unless operating a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that distributes food or provide meal services as a core part of its mission.
  • Nutrition/food education programming. Eligible programs must provide food/meals as a core service.
  • Private non-operating foundations.
  • Governmental entities and government related organizations.
  • Non-functionally-integrated (FISO) type III supporting organizations.
