The mission of the Literary Society of the Southwest is to celebrate contemporary literature and authors, and promote the cause of literacy throughout Arizona.

Requests up to $15,000 will be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Literary Society of the Southwest funds 501(c)(3) programs to improve the ability to read and write for children and youth from birth through 12th grade.
- The applicant must provide programs and services throughout Arizona.
- The applicant must be a public charity exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Funding is provided for program/project expenses. General operating support is not permitted.
- Nonprofit programs are eligible to apply.
Funding Exclusions
- Endowment, capital, building campaigns
- Food and beverage costs
- Fundraising events or sponsorships
- Grant-making programs that distribute funds to other non-profit programs (pass through)
- Individuals or individual scholarships
- Lobbying
- Multi-year grants
- Programs that discriminate based on classifications protected by law
- Programs that promote a particular religious faith or political program
- School districts
