Are you working on community solutions related to food, climate change, or resilience in Austin, Texas? The City of Austin is now accepting applications for its Food and Climate Equity (FACE) Grant. This grant supports grassroots efforts that aim to create a more just, sustainable, and resilient city by addressing systemic inequities and improving health outcomes and quality of life.
Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000, with a focus on community-led projects. Although the grant duration is not specified, all funded projects must submit a final report by June 1, 2026. Proposals may involve ongoing work or new initiatives and must target at least one of the following areas: food justice, climate justice, or neighborhood resilience.
The program strongly encourages applications from individuals and groups that are part of or work closely with communities most impacted by structural barriers. These include communities of color, immigrants, refugees, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, people with disabilities or mental health challenges, youth, elders, and low-income or unhoused populations.
Eligibility is broad. Nonprofits, schools, small businesses, faith-based groups, homeowner associations, and informal grassroots collectives can all apply. Applicants must serve the Austin-Travis County area. Organizations do not need to be 501(c)(3)s, but must register as a vendor with the City of Austin to receive funding.
Only one application is allowed per applicant, and funds cannot be used for political activities like lobbying or campaigning. Awardees must commit to tracking project outcomes and spending, and to sharing their experiences through a final report.
The application deadline is July 17, 2025.
