Grants for Education and Workforce Training in South Carolina

City of Hardeeville in cooperation with the Hardeeville Community Transformation Foundation will provide an annual competitive grant program that supports educational advancement and workforce training opportunities implemented by public, private, and charter schools that services the City of Hardeeville, regional colleges and universities located in Jasper and Beaufort County, regional nonprofits providing educational and workforce programs and workforce training centers.

Details:

The purpose of these grants is to complement the various education and workforce programs that continue providing much needed services for the city. In addition, through the grant and sponsorship program, the city can provide additional resources to meet the demands of a growing city and region in efforts to strengthen the quality of life for those work and live in and around the City of Hardeeville.

Funding Information

Annual competitive grants or contributions that enhance education and promote workforce training. The competitive grant program will make available grant awards for the following categories: 

  • Enhance Education Quality ($10,000 or under) 
  • Expand Access to Education ($10,000 or under) 
  • Promote Workforce Readiness ($10,000 or under) 
  • Encourage Collaborations ($10,000 or under) 
  • Support Research and Development ($10,000 or under 
  • Minor Capital Improvements ($25,000 or under) 
  • New Construction (Amount to be determined and prioritized by City Council, only one project of this type will be funded each year)

Project Period

For all grants, recipients will execute a grant contract for a period of one year from the period of the award and will have this period to expend funds awarded.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Public Schools: K-12 public schools including traditional and magnet schools serving the City of Hardeeville.
  • Charter Schools: Publicly funded independent schools serving the City of Hardeeville. 
  • Private Schools: Non-public K-12 institutions serving the City of Hardeeville.
  • Colleges and Universities: Accredited higher education institutions serving the City of Hardeeville and the region. 
  • Workforce Training Centers: Institutions providing vocational training and skills development that are serving the City of Hardeeville and the region. 
  • Nonprofits: Organizations must provide education and workforce training directly to City of Hardeeville, its community, and its residents, and be recognized as a nonprofit by the IRS.
