This project will empower California Department of Public Health, California Tobacco Prevention Program (CDPH/CTPP)-funded projects, as well as other state and local community partners to advance their work to end the tobacco epidemic in California. California’s social norm change strategy seeks to create an environment where tobacco use becomes less desirable, less acceptable, and less accessible through community interventions and the provision of statewide training and technical assistance. Capacity building is the engine powering this social change across California and plays a key role in the uptake of a single policy to facilitating the adoption of hundreds of tobacco policies statewide. The inclusion of expert and peer-to-peer models broadly disseminates both evidence-based and tacit community-based knowledge. To support the implementation of evidence-based practices and create healthier communities, the Statewide Provider will serve as an organizational hub to build capacity among CDPH/CTPP-funded projects to accelerate their work.
