The Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation provides grants to support foster children and their caregivers in Hawaii. The Foundation understands that having the right resources and support leads to healthier, happier lives for foster children and those who care for them.
This funding opportunity aims to back efforts that create supportive homes and positive experiences for Hawaii’s foster youth. Preference is given to projects that recruit, train, and retain quality resource caregivers. The Foundation also values initiatives that help maintain foster children’s relationships with their siblings.
Programs that address the unique needs of foster children or their caregivers are encouraged to apply. Empowering foster children to participate in decisions affecting their lives is another key focus area.
Grant awards typically range from $10,000 to $50,000 annually. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations based in Hawaii, such as nonprofits, 501(c)(3) groups, religious organizations exempt from taxation, and government units.
At least half of the individuals served by the program must be foster children under the custody of Hawaii state agencies or their caregivers. This includes children in therapeutic foster care, kinship care, respite, guardianship, permanent custody, or adoptive families.
