The total amount available through this program is $550,000, to be distributed among eligible applicants. The requested amount for each application should be determined by a partnered program/event budget decided upon by all partnering organizations collaborating to facilitate the program/event. The awarded total of a grant will be at the discretion of the County Executive after applications are reviewed and recommended by the Tourism Activity Review Committee.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Harford County 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 in good standing with Maryland’s State Department of Assessment and Taxation AND a registered organization as a Maryland charitable organization.
- Must convey a concise plan for an easily identifiable tourism-related, collaborative program or event that draws its audience from OUTSIDE the borders of Harford County and encourages overnight hotel stays.
- Must clearly articulate the intent of the applicant’s program or event is to drive overnight hotel stays in Harford County.
- Must clearly demonstrate the ability to pursue additional funding sources, other than Harford County Government, that support the program or event through sponsorship, another grant donor, fundraising efforts, etc.
- Must demonstrate involvement and consent of partnerships for program or event and provides letters of commitment and support that reflect such.
- Must demonstrate a niche role in offering tourism-related program or event.
