Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative’s Concern for Community program offers grants of up to $5,000 for capital improvement projects within its service area. The cooperative supports projects that enhance the quality of life for its members across selected counties in Kansas.
Grant amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000, and the application deadline is July 31, 2025. While the duration of the grant is not specified, the funds are intended to support meaningful community improvements.
Eligible projects must fit into one of several categories. County fair projects focus on infrastructure and other improvements not typically covered by fair sponsorships. Schools located within the service area can apply if they have capital campaigns aimed at facility improvements that benefit Heartland’s consumer-members.
Non-profit organizations are also eligible, especially those conducting capital campaigns for facilities related to education, the environment, culture and the arts, or civic and community development that positively impact the cooperative’s members.
Other projects that contribute to the betterment of communities within or near the cooperative’s service area may be considered, subject to approval by the cooperative’s board.
