Capital grants from the program are designed to preserve, protect, and enhance historic properties; encourage others to preserve, protect, and enhance historic properties; and promote interest in and the study of historic properties. The Prince George’s County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) administers the grant program on behalf of the Prince George’s County Planning Board.

Individual grant awards can be up to $50,000.
Grant Period
The easement must be recorded within 18 months of the signing of the grant contract.
Eligible Activities
Grants will be awarded for the acquisition, preservation, rehabilitation, or restoration of historic property.
Eligible Expenses
Eligible expenses are those directly associated with the rehabilitation or acquisition of the property. Predevelopment costs necessary to prepare the application (such as fees for architectural plans and/or structural and/or conditions assessments) are not eligible.
Eligible Properties
Eligible properties must be in Prince George’s County and must be designated a County Historic Site or listed in the National Register or qualify as a contributing property within a National Register or local historic district.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include individuals, nonprofit organizations, and political subdivisions (incorporated municipalities). Neighborhood associations or groups without nonprofit status are not eligible. Applicants with outstanding Prince George’s County permit violations or outstanding Prince George’s County HPC violations will have their applications disqualified.
