Since 2017, Idaho Science & Engineering Fairs (IDSEF) has consisted of three separate regional competitions: the Northern Idaho Science & Engineering Fair (NISEF), the Western Idaho Science & Engineering Fair (WISEF), and the Eastern Idaho Science & Engineering Fair (EISEF). Through Idaho STEM Action Center and its partners, these fairs are proudly affiliated with the world’s most prestigious science fair competition, the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), and provide Idaho high schoolers with an opportunity to show their excellence on an international stage.
They recognize the importance of increasing accessibility for students across Idaho to participate in exciting STEM opportunities like the Idaho Science and Engineering Fair (IDSEF). To support this goal, two types of funding opportunities are available:
- Student Research Support – These funds are designed to offset costs for educators supporting students in original STEM research projects with the goal of IDSEF participation. The Idaho STEM Action Center will provide classroom support grants of $100 per project, up to $1,000 per educator. Upon submission of your application, an agreement will be established, and funds will be sent to your district office for disbursement to your school. Applications must be submitted by an adult and cannot be submitted by students for individual projects.
- Classroom Travel – Classrooms located more than 50 miles from their assigned fair location may be eligible for additional travel assistance. Travel funding will be provided in accordance with the State of Idaho’s travel policy to help reduce geographic barriers to participation. An estimated cost of travel, along with supporting documentation, will be required at the time of application. Applications must be submitted by an adult and cannot be submitted by students for individual funding. Payment for approved travel support grants will be issued following the conclusion of the fair and finalization of eligible expenses.
