Focus Areas

Impact100 Newport County embraces the national model’s 5 Focus Areas:

  • Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation: Cultivate, develop and preserve the artistic, cultural, and historic character of our community.
  • Environment, Recreation and Animal Welfare: Conserve, restore, or improve the natural environment, provide enhanced recreational opportunities, or promote the welfare of animals.
  • Health and Wellness: Improve the physical and/or mental health and wellness of the people in our community.
  • Education: Improve educational opportunities for the children and/or adults, especially those that address lingering educational disparities affecting our community.
  • Family: Strengthen and enhance the lives of children and families, including seniors.

Eligible Projects

Projects eligible for the Impact100 Newport County grant must:

  • Serve residents of, and expend funds fully in, the Newport County area.
  • Be a transformational project for the organization in fulfilling its mission and providing its services.
  • Be a capital project, new program, expansion of an existing program, or a new or expanded collaborative effort of multiple nonprofit organizations.
  • Have a total project budget for the full Impact100 grant amount.
  • Expend funds within 24-36 months of the award date.
  • Benefits of the project or program must be available to any person, regardless of religious beliefs or practices.

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations eligible to apply for an Impact100 Newport County grant must:

  • Be tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, independent of a financial sponsor (local affiliates may apply under the 501(c)(3) of the national organization).
  • Serve the Newport County area.
  • Have been in operation for a minimum of 24 months
  • Provide Financial Statements and Tax Returns for the past two fiscal years:
    • Statement of Financial Position
    • Statement of Activities
    • IRS Form 990s
    • Since last fiscal year-end, interim Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activities
    • Is willing to disclose any and all legal actions declared; including current and pending conflicts, unless legal actions are a component of the organization’s operating model.
