The purpose of the Community Assistance Grant is the distribution of monetary funds to not-for-profit agencies in Crosby, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, and Terry counties. In the spring of each year, up to $5,000 may be awarded to not-for-profit agencies.
Eligibility Criteria
Below are the application instructions and criteria:
- A written application must be submitted through this online form.
- Proof of one of the following must be submitted:
- 501(c)(3) IRS status
- Application for 501(c)(3) status
- Umbrella 501(c)(3) status, or
- Governmental entity status.
- There is no minimum or maximum request. However, the average amount awarded to an agency is approximately $1,500. Please note that the JLL has the discretion to award partial amounts requested.
- No organization will be considered for funding if Community Assistance Grant funds were awarded during the previous award cycle (fall and spring) prior to the submission deadline.
- Agencies must have a local community-based board.
- Requests should not require direct participation from the JLL members.
- Requests must be consistent with the purpose and community interests of the JLL.
- Applicants shall supply receipts of the expenses for which they are seeking reimbursement along with their application for the grant. Invoices for services are not acceptable documentation.
- Appropriate requests for grant monies may be used for any one or more of the following:
- Emergency needs shall receive priority attention.
- Requests shall not be considered for the following:
- Fundraising drives
- Capital campaigns
- Political campaigns
- Religious projects
- Individuals.
Ineligibility
The following documents are required as part of your application. Failure to submit a required document or submitting invoices instead of receipts will make your application ineligible.
- Statement of Purpose
- List of your Board of Directors and its committees
- Current and prior year’s budget
- Most recent year-end and most recent financial statement
- Most recent IRS Form 990
- A copy of your 501(c)(3) IRS Authorization Permit
- Receipts for expenses incurred which this Community Assistance Grant will reimburse.
