The Ketchikan Gateway Borough accepts applications from organizations seeking funding for programs, projects and/or services that support and promote at least one of the following areas:
- Animal Protection: Programs and services that expand and supplement animal protection activities offered by the Borough
- Economic Development:
- Programs and services that aid in the development and support of new business enterprises;
- Increase workforce availability by providing worker training and education;
- Enhance the employability of individuals not presently in the workforce;
- Programs that foster greater commercial activity in the Borough.
- Education: Programs and services that expand or supplement the educational programs of existing schools
- Recreation: Programs and services that expand or supplement parks and recreation activities offered by the Borough
- Transportation: Programs and services that expand or supplement transportation activities offered by the Borough.
Funding Information
- The proposed funding request cannot exceed $25,000 and 25% of the organization’s local operating budget for each award cycle.
- Fiscal Sponsors can receive a maximum of $50,000 per award cycle.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for grant funding:
- Applicants must be a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3)statusin good standing with the IRS, State of Alaska and Ketchikan Gateway Borough.
- The proposed funding request cannot exceed $25,000 and 25% of the organization’s local operating budget for each award cycle.
- Fiscal Sponsors can receive a maximum of $50,000 per award cycle. The same funding caps in
item 2 above apply to fiscal sponsors. There is no limit on the number of projects that can be submitted
by a sponsor, but a $25,000 cap in total sponsored project funding is in place. - The proposed program/service must provide significant, measurable, and direct services to
Ketchikan Gateway Borough residents, businesses and/or visitors. - The proposed programs, projects and/or services must support or promote at least one of the
following categories: animal protection, economic development, education, recreation, and
transportation. - The organization must have submitted all prior funding cycle reporting information and required
applicant materials prior to the application deadline.
