The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation provides grants to organizations that operate bookmobiles, bringing books to underserved youth in their neighborhoods. These grants are specifically for purchasing children’s fiction or non-fiction books, available for checkout to encourage pleasure reading and support school assignments.
The program excludes grants for book distribution programs, atlases, dictionaries, basal readers, workbooks, instructional tools, magazine subscriptions, or textbooks and encyclopedias. The funding ranges from $500 to $3,000.
Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) charitable agencies, public libraries, or schools operating bookmobiles in the U.S. and its territories. The deadline to apply is August 15, 2025.
