The Energy Efficiency Equity Grant Program (Program), formerly the Low-to-Moderate Income Grant Program, is offered by the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) in order to support energy efficiency home and building upgrade projects that benefit Marylanders experiencing low or moderate income.
Applications are to be submitted per region. A maximum of 40 total awards are available. The minimum request for an award is $9,500 per submitted regional application. A maximum award amount has not been determined and, if awarded, grantees should expect to see scaling of larger requested amounts.
- Regional Allocation: To prioritize an equitable distribution across the State, Program funds are first allocated to each Maryland region based on the number of households experiencing low or moderate income within the respective region according to statewide median income levels.
- First Time Grant Recipient Allocation: $2.8 million of the total $11,238,450 budget will be initially reserved for applicants who have not previously received an award from the MEA Energy Efficiency Equity grant program. The $2.8 million initial allocation for first time grant recipients will be distributed regionally using the same methodology as the remaining $8,438,450.

The following types of entities are eligible to receive funding:
- Local governments (cities, counties and/or municipalities)
- Incorporated non-profit organizations registered in Maryland.
